Tomorrows Children's Fund - Hackensack University Medical Center

Ira W. Sohn was diagnosed with cancer in 1989 at the young age of 24. He was treated for a short time at Tomorrows Children’s Institute, but succumbed to the disease four years later. To honor Ira and support Tomorrows Children’s Fund, Judy Sohn, Ira“s mother and business colleagues Dan Nir and Doug Hirsch founded the “Ira W. Sohn Investment Research Conference” in 1996. This annual conference has raised over ten million dollars for Tomorrows Children’s Fund since its inception. To honor the Sohn’s and the conference founders Tomorrows Children’s Fund has named the new in-patient unit after the conference; “Ira W. Sohn Research Conference Wing.”

The state-of-the-art wing is housed at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital which is linked to the DON IMUS — WFAN Pediatric Center for Tomorrows Children via the Mark Messier Skyway for Tomorrows Children.

This wing features 16 beds, all private rooms with private baths, beds for parents, computer stations, playrooms, playstations, plasma TV's, washers and dryers, 24 hour room service and solariums. When a child is suffering with cancer, these aren't luxuries. There should be necessities that make living with these diseases bearable. Fortunately, through the generous donations of TCF supporters these necessities have become reality and available to our patients at the Ira W. Sohn Research Conference Wing.
